Short selling is the latest thrill
The new high-risk fad - not sky diving or bungee-jumping; it's short selling in a bull market.
Risky it may be, but there are apparently many willing to play the game. Short-selling activity on the New York Stock Exchange is at an all-time high, even though the Dow Jones industrial average keeps racking up record highs.
Pierre Lapointe, assistant market strategist at National Bank Financial, noted that the ratio comparing the short interest to total shares outstanding on the New York Stock Exchange recently surpassed 3 per cent, the highest level ever.
Short selling is also increasing in Canada but at a slower pace, with the short interest on the S&P/TSX composite index constituents now at 2.1 per cent of shares outstanding, up from just 1.5 per cent at the beginning of the bull market, he noted.

Ein wirklich interessanter Artikel wie ich finde und ein nicht zu verachtender Indikator auf das, was uns demnächst an den Aktienmärkten erwarten könnte
